The Art of Getting a Job

I'm not very good at that kind of art. My paranoias of approaching people seem to keep me from going out and looking for a job. At the moment I am trying to convince myself to walk over to Kmart or take the bus to Target so that I can apply for a job. Any help on what to expect would be nice. I've never had a job before so I am nervous and paranoid.
